Shawn & Kayla’s Maternity Session | Wildflowers & Awkward Fun in Lancaster, PA

When two of your dear friends—who also happen to be incredibly talented creatives in the wedding industry—ask you to capture their maternity journey, you know it’s going to be special. Shawn and Kayla are the kind of people who light up every room, so it was no surprise that their maternity photoshoot would be equal parts beautiful and hilariously unforgettable.

We actually split their session into two parts, each reflecting a different side of their personalities. First up: the awkward maternity session. Yes, you read that right. Shawn requested a full-on, awkward, overly posed, completely cheesy set of photos—and I was all in. We leaned into the silliness with retro poses, dramatic stares, and a whole lot of laughter. It was pure fun and totally on-brand for these two.

For the second half, we embraced the beauty and softness of the season with a dreamy wildflower session in Lancaster, PA. The evening light was golden and warm, casting the perfect glow over the fields as Kayla and Shawn soaked in the quiet joy of this season. The love they have for each other—and their soon-to-arrive baby girl—was so easy to see.

It was the best of both worlds: laughter and light, goofy and gorgeous, all wrapped up in one beautiful evening. Kayla and Shawn, you two are already incredible parents—and I can’t wait to meet your little one soon.
